Moonset

A Photo to Kill Time

While waiting for the moon to set so that I could start my deep sky astrophotography (I had already finished my drift alignment), I decided to capture the moon on film in an unconventional way. I first took one short exposure, waited 15 minutes and then left the shutter open until the moon had set. I did not calculate any exposures, in fact I had no idea how to go about doing this, I just tried - and it worked! I guess I could stop down the lens for both exposures, as the moon is still a bit too bright, but this looks pretty good already.
