The Hyades open star cluster in Taurus, approximately 143 light years in distance.
The brightest star in the Hyades is orange Aldebaran, seen in the left half of the picture. The Hyades form the "head" of the mythical bull Taurus.
To the upper left of the Hyades is another small open cluster, NCG 1647.
